1 Down – 3 To Go!
“It’s a 3-2 league” – Darryl Sutter
Take a look at those faces from Bryant Park (ha ha)… They’re not celebrating much tonight!
Following the mercy killing of the Ducks in Game 7 the Kings hopped on a flight and had to play Chicago 38 hours later. They were expected to get blown out like Pam Anderson after Tommy Lee.
They weren’t crispy like a Chinese noodle, They weren’t solid like Rocco Siffredi. They weren’t firing like Donald Trump.
But they played their asses off and in the end advanced to the Stanley Cup finals.
In Game 7 the Kings had eight turnovers.
Tonight, they had 8 turnovers in the FIRST PERIOD!
Yes, they were sloppier than a toilet at CBGB’s but tonight they persevered once again.
Doughty tried to get cuter than a 4 year old singing “Let it Go” and instead gets toasted like an English Muffin. There’s just so many times Quick can be left hanging like Nicholas Brody (did I just spoil it for you just catching up on “Homeland?”) –
Voynov not only needs to be whipped, he needs to be branded. I’ve seen some bad games before (Nathan Lafayette’s career, Ryan Bach’s debut, anytime Roman Cechmakek was in net) but Voynov was playing like he owed the Russian mafia a lot of money.
The Kings overcame yet ANOTHER 2-0 opponents lead. Can they PLEASE stop doing this? My blood pressure is high, my heart rate is over 100 and my ulcers now have me bleeding from my asshole.
Clifford finally got the gooseegg removed from his resume in what is sure to be the most important goal of his career so far and Drew Doughty made up for his earlier gaffe by scoring what is sure to be a highlight reel goal. Take THAT Ryan McDonagh.
The 3rd period saw a classic case of the Kings clamping down on the Rangers like a crocodile on a deer. They couldn’t hold Chicago, but they held the Rangers to 0 shots in the first 12 minutes and despite being tired outshot them 20-4.
Williams did it again.
He made me happy, he made the 18,000+ fans at Staples happy, he even made Russell Crowe smile.
The Rangers gave the Kings a run for their money in the face-off circle winning 28 of 57. Weird how Jeff Carter was 7 out of 12 but Kopitar, after battling, and winning against Thornton, Getzlaf and Toews, only won 9 of 21.
They outhit the Rags 45-33 and Rick Nash didn’t hit a soul, was -1 and only had 3 shots.
I’d say I’m happy Regehr is back but if San Jose made mince meat out of him, Hagelin will make him look like a squirrel that’s been run over by a truck.
When I saw Lewis was going to keep the puck on a 2 on 1 I left the room took a piss and knew the score wouldn’t be tied. When he had a breakaway, I knew I could safely leave to take a shit and the game would remain tied.
I hope they keep playing McDonagh 30 minutes a game. He should be worn out by game 4.
Sutter > Vigneault – his mixing of lines had Allain more confused than Mr. Magoo in the Sahara Desert.
