TSN Insider Darren Dreger on his podcast today stated the Kings are interested in LW Nikolai Kulemin with his 5 goals and 18 assists in 51 games as well as recently concussed LW Clarke MacArthur and his 16 goals and 11 assists in 44 games.
One can’t score, the other has head injuries. They it right in.
“We know the two teams have been scouting each other,” Dreger began. “They’re eyeballing Clarke MacArthur and Nikolai Kulemin. It doesn’t mean they’re going to find a deal that fits for either one of those players because Dean Lombardi throws out the big fish net and makes a decision on which one he’s going to settle on.”
I didn’t know Dean liked fishing. But IMO, he should use a stronger line.
“Right now his net includes the players I just mentioned out of Toronto, it includes Ales Hemsky out of Edmonton, it includes Jeff Carter and Christian Huselius of Columbus and on and on it goes.”
Christian Huselius? Isn’t he softer than a marshmallow? Hasn’t he only played TWO games the entire season?
When asked who Dreger though the Leafs would want in return?
“Maybe it’s a younger player. There’s been all sorts of speculation whether on not L.A. would move Dustin Brown. I kind of find that hard to imagine, but in today’s NHL and given the deals Dean Lombardi’s pulled off in the past, I can’t dismiss it.”
I went and puked up my Wendy’s spicy chicken sandwich and sea salt fries. Then I hit the play button again.
“You’re not getting Dustin Brown for Nik Kulemin or Clarke MacArthur, so that would be a part of a bigger package. But that’s pure speculation.”
Whew! Speculation. The spicy chicken sandwich didn’t taste as good coming back up as it did going down. But I look on the bright side. At least I lost a few pounds.

Kulemin carries a 2.25 mil cap hit and is a RFA. MacArthur has a 3 mil cap hit and is signed for another year.

I don’t want any one of those guys. They wouldn’t work in our system. I think think u trade players like still and penner to get younger bigger players in our system. And btw u can’t trade brown…he hits every game (3rd in the league) he’s an affordable cap hit and he gets 60 points a year. So please everyone stop trying to trade brown.
Ps..the kings look like crap in the first period.
But i would strip brown of being captain. I think kopi or greene should be. Less pressure on brown too.
I would literally shoot Lombardi if he traded one of our most consistent players, at least this season, for those two. We don’t need more players who wont produce.
