And The Newest King Will Be…?
Too expensive and doesn’t want to play here, even though we have a better chance of winning the Stanley Cup again before the end of his career than Minnesota does. They signed two of the top free agents and traded for a sniper and they’re STILL just 1 point ahead of the Kings? If Vanek actually WANTS to play in Minnesota, he’s a bigger idiot than I thought.
Also a rental and too expensive and as I’ve pointed out many times, he’s been a point a game player with Tavares, he’s been a 1/2 a point player with the likes of Drew Stafford and teams are going to severely overpay for his services.
Dean doesn’t want this guy, who are we all kidding. He’s going east.
I think everyone is trying to figure out why Lombardi would want another center (dumping a 3 million dollar a year center to the 4th line), who isn’t very good on face-offs, who carries a 4.5 million dollar cap hit next season AND a no trade clause? Let other teams bid on this guy. If Edmonton wants anything more than Kyle Clifford, pass. It feels like Lombardi has the same weird hard-on for Gagner as he did for Matt Frattin, and look how THAT turned out.
Which brings me to Danny Briere. He’s not liked in Montreal by his coach. (none of the players like the coach either) As a matter of fact, his coach hates him. He was playing him 8 minutes a game. He STILL scored 8 goals, which is more than Clifford, Frattin and Lewis COMBINED.
If there’s nothing left, Lombardi will make the deal. You may not like it, but he has CHEMISTRY with Carter and Richards. Have you even bothered to look at his PLAYOFF numbers? FIFTY ONE POINTS in the last 45 playoffs games!!! Yes, he can play LW. You cannot deny he’s money in clutch situations.
Fraser cleared waivers. Is anyone surprised? Not like he’s Carcillo or anything.
Remember when goaltender Marty Biron was the talk of the town and rumored to be going everywhere. He was making 3.5 million dollars and seeking a raise. Then the only team he could find was a back-up job in New York… for a million? There doesn’t seem there’s much of a market for Ryan Miller as the only two playoff teams, Minnesota and Washington aren’t willing to part with top assets or picks.
What a great time to have the Olympics. Right when there’s nothing to watch. The NFL just ended, spring training is right around the corner, so what better way to compete for entertainment dollars with basketball than to LEAVE.
No wonder owners are pissed off. I would be, too.
It’s pilot season folks so I’m gonna have a busy few weeks, so if I don’t post daily, don’t be hatin’ on me.
