Clifford For Gagner “Very Close”
AJ on Ottawa radio
“LA is reviewing Gagner medical records to make sure if they want to go through with deal”
“Gagner and Clifford are the main pieces he’s unsure of the smaller components”
“Oilers would have to eat salary”
“Could very well happen prior to roster freeze but Kings being up close to the cap could deter until after”
“Pretty positive it’s going to happen, unsure of timing though”
I’m told a pick is going to Edmonton, depending on how much of Gagner’s salary Oilers have to eat.
In other blockbuster news, Rob Blake traded Robert Czarnik to Montreal for Steve Quailer a LW who is 6’4″ – 200 pounds and missed an entire season due to a knee injury. Fits right in.
According to an amazing chart by Jon Rosen HERE, there’s proof positive players coming BACK from the Olympics play like drunken Irishmen and their teams suffer because of it.
KINGS RECORDS POST OLYMPICS 10 GAMES
Considering the Kings are ALREADY playing like poopsicles, they can’t afford to play .500 for 10 games following the Olympics. If THAT happens, the Kings will only have 13 games remaining to sneak into the 8th and final playoff spot. They play SEVEN of those 13 games on the road.
The Kings IMO have the highest odds of MISSING the playoffs, and then firing their coach and general manager on the same day.
Here are the 10 games following the Olympics
So its bad enough players are traveling all the way to Russia and back, then they have to make TWO trips to Canada.
Yeah, the Kings are poised for a playoff run.
From the department of whooptee-do, Jeff Schultz was sent back to Manchester, because being paid a lot of money to walk around in a suit is a terrible job to have.
Anaheim Will Be The Catalyst…
The Ducks are likely to make the biggest splash in the trade market. Why? Because NOBODY is talking about the Ducks making the biggest splash in the trade market. Selanne is going to have to be replaced. Souray hurt himself stroking his ego and is done for the year and the Ducks have a glut of goaltenders they can deal… and 5 mil in cap space NOW, 7 mil in cap space at the deadline. They have the prospects AND the picks (Their #1 plus the #1 they got from the Sens for Bobby Ryan, plus an additional #2 from the Maple Leafs in the Peter Holland trade)
San Jose will follow
Kings will get the leftovers (remember Willie Mitchell being THIRD choice – worked out though)
How about those Russian accommodations!
a) you can’t flush toilet paper – that wonderful aroma from open air ass wipes while you’re brushing your teeth in the morning is all part of the “experience”
b) when water is worse than Mexico, you have a real fucking problem!
c) shower curtains don’t exist, so seeing a naked Drew Doughty is not my idea of working on ones gag reflex.
d) stray dogs seem to be a real problem – easy solution, import some Vietnamese and open up a restaurant (oh, Matt, you do NOT!)
e) absolutely NO FISHING in the TOILET!!! I kid you not…
My trade predictions:
Callahan – if he doesn’t sign with the Rangers, he’s traded to Colorado
Miller – St Louis or Minnesota for sure
Vanek – Minnesota, just as soon as they dump Heatley, likely by Friday. If not, look for Colorado
Cammalleri – Rangers – insurance against Callahan leaving
Girardi – not going anywhere
Moulson – San Jose or Anaheim
Ott – won’t be traded
Whitney – won’t be traded
Gaborik – not going anywhere
