Bernier to the Rangers? Huh?
Here’s a new wrinkle that my silly brain came up with. The Rangers don’t want to buyout Brad Richards. King Henrik is 31 and in the final year of his contract. If he’s looking for a Luongo type deal (8 years… until he’s 39), there may be a chance King Henrik is dealt. Blasphemy, right!
Stranger things have happened. Imagine the players the Rangers could get back for dealing one of the best goaltenders in the game?
The Rangers have nice prospects to dangle to the Kings. Chris Kreider, Dylan McIlrath.
Lombardi certainly loves his 3-team deals.
My source confirms the Flyers and NJ have both made strong pitches for Bernier but that the Islanders have also been talking with Lombardi.
Dennis Bernstein tweeted the Flyers were rumored to have offered Matt Read (a 27 year old with 1 year left) but I’ve been told Sean Couturier might now be the front runner (only 20) and in two words… YES PLEASE!
Brayden Schenn’s season was disappointing this year and could he solve the Kings 2nd line LW woes? He’s got a rather large ego and that might not fit in the Kings locker room
As I tweeted yesterday, it looks like Bud Holloway will be back with the Kings. According to his parents he has two offers on the table and is mulling over both. I admire Lombardi for putting water under the bridge. He was pissed when Holloway left.
Linden Vey will be given a solid chance to make the club next season as will Tanner Pearson. This is going to leave Manchester woefully thin so I anticipate any deals the Kings make will probably include some decent prospects.
Off to Lego Land!
