From the department of who gives a crap, the Kings shockingly waived Andrew Bodnarchuk in the hopes that 29 other teams think he’s crappy enough not to get claimed and he’ll be a fantastic addition to the Monarchs roster.
What amazes me about this story is Rich Hammond and Jon Rosen both were/are employed by the Kings yet they have to get their information from a CBC tweet. I mean, why HAVE these guys if you’re not going to provide information before the MSM gets ahold of it? I love Mike Altieri, but don’t make Rosen look bad, he’s a good guy, tell him when your player has been waived so HE can tweet it and not some guy from Canada!
In other news, former King Eric Belanger loved Russia so much he quit on his team citing he was “homesick.” Those who haven’t been to Russia, its called, “they’re corrupt and there’s not shit to eat!” Look for Eric to be very happy skating for a crappy NHL club looking for a “veteran.”
Former first round draft pick, Colten Teubert will be heading to Europe in the next few days because even AHL clubs think he’s slower than a snail on quaaludes.
I was listening to Jonathan Brown on XM204 today talking about how Dean Lombardi had been trying to pry Matt Frattin away from Toronto for a “couple of seasons” – What does Lombardi see in this guy? Hopefully not the same things he saw in Thomas Hickey and Colten Teubert.
Brown also suggests Ben Scrivens is NOT a shoo-in for the back-up role and predicted he’d be traded by the deadline. He thinks Matty Garon has a better chance. I say, if Quick goes down, we’re fucked.
The Rangers played the Vancouver Canucks tonight. Tortorella actually shook Larry Brooks’ hand and Allain Vinneault cried. The Canucks were kicking the shit out of the Rangers 5-0 by the time I posted this, so I look for a much stronger, angry, pissed off rangers team in Las Vegas against the Kings. So glad its on TV.
Another former King Dave Steckel couldn’t find a job either and is now on a tryout with the Wild.
Raffi Torres tears his ACL and had surgery today. Show of hands, how many feel bad for him?
So let me get this straight: Several players have had their careers ended or shortened because they were badly hurt chasing a puck before it was called for icing. Now they have hybrid icing and the NHLPA is going to turn it down? This is why I don’t feel sorry for them. Same with players who don’t wear visors. Maybe they shouldn’t wear seat belts in their cars either.
Last season, Jack Johnson was a -5 for a delicious career -90. Anyone else think it just gets WORSE now that he’s in the east?
Simon Gagne made 3.5 million dollars last year. This year he doesn’t even have a team. According to Pierre LeBrun of TSN, the Habs do NOT have interest in him. I guess when you talk about how much you hated playing in L.A., that got around to future employers who didn’t want that kind of negative energy in their locker room.
