Darryl Sutter sent a message to his troops.
They listened loud and clear.
Mike Richards was so pissed off about being dumped to the 4th line, not only did he refuse to be interviewed between periods, he went out and scored a power play goal.
Dustin Brown was so happy to get OUT of the 4th line doghouse, he potted a Jarret Stoll rebound, then promptly got his feelings hurt again.
Jeff Carter was responsible for centering Tanner Pearson and Tyler Tofoli (playing on his better side) and he had a point, as did Dwight King.
It all led up to a convincing 4-0 win against a shitty Florida team who hadn’t won in Staples Center since 2002.
Now if this could only work against playoff teams.
Despite the Trevor Lewis goal (isn’t that an oxymoron?) the Kings didn’t have a shot on the power play in their first two chances, but with time winding down, Richards took matters into his own hands and scored for only the 4th time in 46 games.
Gaborik has now played 8 games on the top line with 2 goals and 3 assists.
Pearson is going to be a stud. He’s gaining confidence every game and is starting to play like Trevor Lewis will be out of a job next season.
Is it true? The Kings have actually won 2 straight 1:00 games?
Kings have won 5 straight on the road but the Flyers have also won 5 straight and they’re a playoff team.
Anyone miss Colin Fraser? Anyone?
Matt Greene gets back in the lineup, Kings lose. Matt Greene out of the lineup, Kings win. Coincidence?
Minnesota lost to Grand Rapids and the Blues have picked a perfect time to go into a slump.
Jonathan Quick became the all time Kings leader in wins… or has he… Rogie Vachon didn’t have the luxury of shootout wins, so I don’t count Quick being the leader yet:
08-09: 4 wins in the shootout
09-10: 8 wins in shootout
10-11: 10 wins in shootout
11-12: 6 wins in shootout
12-13: 2 wins in shootout
13-13: 5 wins in shootout
Sorry folks, but IMO Quick needs 35 more wins to pass Vachon.
Watching the Sharks/Caps game tonight the Caps announcer asked, “now that you’ve seen all 3 West Coast teams (Ducks, Kings, Sharks), who do you think it the toughest?” Without hesitation he said “The Kings. We talked about it after the (Kings) game. They play such a hard heavy game.”
Victor Fasth and Ben Scrivens gave up 8 goals tonight to Calgary. Not easy to play when you have no defense. Giordano and Brodie were both +5 and weren’t even stars of the game
