Dallas Vs Anaheim and Blues Vs Chicago!?!?!?
You know the saying that if you’re in a playoff position at Thanksgiving, you’ll likely wind up in the playoffs?
1) Boston – made it
2) Tampa Bay – made it
3) Pittsburgh – made it
4) Detroit – made it
5) Montreal – made it
6) Toronto – flopped like “John Carter”
7) Rangers – made it
8) Washington – failed like Microsoft
The Flyers were 12th but went 31-18-7
Columbus was 13th and went 33-19-4
1) Chicago – made it
2) St Louis – made it
3) Anaheim – made it
4) San Jose – made it
5) Los Angeles – made it
6) Colorado – made it
7) Minnesota – made it
8) Phoenix – losing 8 or 9 down the stretch didn’t help
Dallas was 12th with a decent 12-9-2 record and went an unimpressive 28-21-9 to clinch, which just goes to show you how sucky everyone else was.
As it stands tonight, Dallas would face Anaheim and St Louis and Chicago would have to beat the shit out of each other and ONE of them will be wonderfully ELIMINATED. The Ducks have TWO games left (vs the Kings tomorrow and then the FINALE at home against Colorado which COULD determine who each team plays depending on the outcome of the Kings game tomorrow!)
Let’s see if I got this shit right (I usually don’t)
If the Ducks get 1 point out of 4:
They win the conference no matter what the Blues and Colorado do: They play Dallas
If the Ducks get 0 points out of 4:
If Colorado wins and St Louis wins or ties: Ducks play Minnesota, Colorado plays Dallas, Blues play Chicago
If St Louis gets 2 points and Colorado gets 1 or less: Ducks play Minnesota, Colorado plays Chicago, Blues play Dallas
Remember the 2 points the Kings didn’t get in Detroit because 4 refs didn’t see a puck hit the mesh, go off Quicks back and into the net? It wouldn’t have mattered anyway.
To Jamie Benn who said to the crowd, “We have the best fans in the league” – Um, no, you don’t. You don’t even have the 17th best fans in the league.
So John Tortorella goes from the Rangers to the Canucks, changes their style and the Sedin’s have their worst season ever and they miss the playoffs. Alain Vignault goes from the Canucks to the Rangers, changes their style and they have home ice advantage.
Justin Johnson, who was the Monarchs resident punching bag for nearly 3 seasons made his NHL debut tonight with the Islanders as a 32 year old rookie. Congratulations on NEVER giving up on your dream. Albeit it will be a short one, but at least he got to play 7:15.
Anyone feel sorry for Penner? Anyone?
Alex Ovechkin scored ANOTHER goal on the power play from the circle. I feel sorry for whomever gets Washington in the playoffs. Hmm? What? They didn’t MAKE the playoffs? WHAT?
The New Jersey Devils lost their 13th shootout in a row tonight(17 dating back to last season) – if they had won just FIVE of those games, they would likely be on facing Boston in the 1st round.
Ryan Smyth: “I wish I would have won the Stanley Cup” – Well, jackass, the year you left the Kings, they did just that while you were playing golf after yet another miserable Oilers season.
So Detroit lost at home against Carolina…. Guess they’d rather play Boston than the Rangers?
