How Much More of a Sign Do You Need, Lombardi?
It wasn’t working for the Flyers. They made a change. Now they’re in the playoffs.
It wasn’t working for the Jets. They made a change. Now they’ve won 8 out of 10
I think they’ve had MORE than enough time to “work through it.” 1-8-1 is not going to keep you in the playoffs.
Columbus beats Anaheim in their crib
Flyers beat San Jose where they never lose
Vancouver pulling an el-foldo despite their minor trade
What did the Kings do?
Choke like Michael Hutchense.
The Kings dominated in hits 36-10. They dominated in the face-off circle 41-22
They also dominated in penalties and the most penalized team in the NHL cost the Kings the game. A game where they actually played with some heart, some energy, some emotion, some balls.
But it only took the most undisciplined team in the league TWENTY FOUR SECONDS to do something stupid. It only took not Evander Kane just seconds to make them pay. Then a rare 3 on 1 and many were ready to leave Staples seeing that the Kings have only been able to score about as often as Jan Michael Vincent.
Doughty scoring a power play goal was a good thing and made me stop drinking… temporarily.
Then the Kings hit more iron than Shaq at the free throw line.
Then they remarkably tied the game and there was some hope, some light at the end of the tunnel, that feeling where you know you’re gonna get laid. The last time the Kings scored 2 goals in the same game, Maximillian Schell and Philip Seymour Hoffman were still alive.
But like the girl who ran out of condoms and she doesn’t want to give you a handy leaving you with nothing but blue balls, the Kings did the same to their fans.
Dominating the 2nd period for the first time all season, the Kings gave up a goal on Chicago’s 3rd shot of the period.
And that was it.
You don’t win against the SC champs who had a 24-1-3 record when leading after 2.
Toffoli on the top line finally paid dividends – lets hope there’s more to come because Richards is flat out awful. The 3rd and 4th lines are as bad as Megadeth’s new album.
At least the Kings didm’t score ONE goal.
Matt Frattin was his usual useless self. Colin Fraser was his usual useless self.
How come Mike Richards can’t hold onto a puck?
Matt Greene actually had a good game, knocking several Hawks on their asses.
Do my eyes deceive me? Muzzin didn’t take a penalty?
Folks, let’s be real here – The Kings are NOT going to trade for Thomas Vanek. He’s a UFA looking for a large payday. That is NOT Lombardi’s style. Period. End of fricken story! He traded for Carter who has a lot of years left, he traded for Richards who had a lot of years left.
Regehr, yes. He was REASONABLE. The Kings can’t AFFORD Vanek next year.
So stop dreaming.
The Mayor’s been hinting at this all week and now The Edmonton Journal HERE say the Kings indeed are very interested in Sam Gagner (who dumb Lombardi could have picked in the draft instead of that fucking bust Thomas Hickey) but they’re suggesting it will cost the Kings Jordan Nolan or Kyle Clifford or Dwight King.
Since King is the only decent LW they have, that’s not going to happen.
Clifford I’m okay with. Jordan Nolan I’m not. The guy has heart and actually CAN fight. Losing BOTH would put a huge hole on the Kings crushing defensive system.
