I Love When Darryl Sutter Speaks His Mind
The Kings have lost 3 of their last 4 games.
“Our fourth line has been interchangeable because, quite honest, some of the kids haven’t played very well. I know everybody goes back to last year, but those kids that we brought up last year have not played very well this year, so we were hoping for them to play better now and better in a hurry.”
It’s one game, I know and still, after we tossed and turned in our beds, kicked the dog, yelled at the wife, drank too much or all of the above after last night’s game, today is a new day.
The Blues will be a cocky bunch tomorrow night and in the beginning their emotions will carry them once again. The Kings will stem the tide and then open up the faucets. The BEST thing that could happen is if the Kings blow them out of the water. “We are the Stanley cup Champs Motherfuckers” – It will deflate them, make Elliott think twice about how great he is, and send a message to the Blues coming back to Staples.
The Kings still have the experience, Muzzin and Ellerby notwithstanding.
The quotes that surprised (and scared) the shit out of me?
“I’m quite happy playing those two kids (Muzzin and Ellerby) because they’re both very capable.”
“You know what…they both played a lot better as the game went on, but at the same time it put a lot of pressure on the other four guys early, and…a big reason why we spent so much time in our own zone was those kids had trouble early in the game.”
EARLY in the game?
I know he’s just a professional coach and I’m just a guy who yells at my TV and maybe he’s just saying that because he doesn’t want to lose Ellerby’s mojo the way that Martinez has lost his (anyone else wish we still had Drewiske?), but EARLY in the game? Muzzin did his best Oscar Moller vs Bobby Ryan imitation often last night. Ellerby kept playing hot potato with the puck.
I don’t think the Blues score another power play goal the entire series. My crystal ball just told me so.
