I’m Tellin’ Ya, It’s All Scuderi’s Fault!
The “Machete” award goes to… The Los Angeles Kings, who lead the league with 6 slashing penalties.
It’s all Rob Scuderi’s Fault.
The Kings play a defense first system and its worked for 2 straight years. Minnesota tried it for years with Jacques Lemaire and they won severl trips to Pebble Beach. How many of us have actually now died knowing we won the cup?
This season the Kings started out with Muzzin and he got toasted like white bread. Depending on who you ask, Robyn Regehr is…
a) a pylon – one of those blackened ones that’s been tossed around the 405 a few times
b) something that runs in front of your car, you speed up and smile as you hear a “thump”
c) Sandy Moger
That’s put even MORE pressure on the forwards this season, hence the anemic lack of scoring, especially from the centers who are pretty nifty at keeping their defensive positions. The Kings still have a winning record despite being at the bottom of the league in 5 on 5 scoring.
But I also blame the out-of-touch coaches for not adjusting and trying to be a little more creative. I’m about to say they’ve “Jumped the Shark.” Davis Payne is just as boring (if not worse) than Jamie Kompon. At least Kompon knew how to design a breakout pass and actually made sense while looking stupid during between period interviews.
Once again, like the past 2 seasons, the 3rd and 4th lines have disappeared like your daughter’s virginity after a night with Mickey Rourke.
True story. The other day my sister lost her cat when an OWL swooped down, grabbed it, and took off. That was about as surreal as seeing Frattin Lewis or Clifford hit the back of the net.
Because it’s Friday and my wife just threw me some pity sex, I can look on the bright side. When Kopitar and Richard DO start scoring, the Kings will be much better off.
Of the first 8 games played, 4 ended in a tie, 3 were losses and Scrivens shutout Florida. Come to think of it, if this were 10 years ago when ties were still ties the Kings would only be 2-3-3 and I would be having a pretty severe meltdown on these here boards…. oh, wait… I’m being positive. Back to that!
The Kings were also on the road for 6 of the 8 games, and going 4-2 in those 6 games is pretty about as satisfying as vomiting after eating 12 taco bell burrito’s after an all night drinking binge. And you all KNOW how satisfying a feel that is!
Jonathan Quick doesn’t have an excuse this year. Last season, he was coming off of back surgery and wound up with an unimpressive 2.45 gaa (17th in the league) with a .902 save percentage which tied the awful Joey McDonald for 34th.
This season, Quick is 25th in save percentage and 22nd in GAA. Is this HIS fault, or the fact that he didn’t have Willie Mitchell last season and doesn’t have Rob Scuderi THIS season?
If the Kings are going to make a deadline deal, I’d look for them to trade one of their many Manchester assets for a solid D-man like Dan Girardi or a Rusty Klesla (here’s the complete list of UFA D-men)
Is it any surprise the Penguins have only lost ONCE and Mark Andre Fleury has a 1.67 gaa???
It’s all Rob Scuderi’s fault.
Flyers trade Coming?
The Flyers centers, Giroux, Lecavalier, Schenn and Coutourier only have 3 goals combined and their defense has only scored 3 goals as well.
Paul Holmgren said today he is “talking with teams, trying to upgrade things.” Wonder if Ron Hextall is chiming on on which players on the Kings should be Flyers (if any, maybe he just hated everyone and that’s why he was sent packing)
The Boston Bruins centers only have 3 goals combined as well.
Louie Eriksson has 2 goals, Tyler Seguin leads Dallas with 3 goals, 5 assists
Kevin Westgarth, who averages only 5 minutes a game with the Kings is only averaging 4 minutes with Carolina… when he even does play.
Dustin Penner has the same amount of goals in 4 games with the Ducks as he did in 33 games last season with the Kings.
How scary is it that Gabriel Landeskog is only TENTH on Colorado in scoring.
Jack Johnson is -6. He is now -96 for his career.
The Kings have taken 35 minor penalties, (not) good for 7th in the league.
Daniel Alfredsson has 8 assists. The same as Jason Spezza and Kyle Turris COMBINED
Big free agent signing Andrew Ference has only 1 goal and is -5
Matt Cooke leads the Wild in scoring.
Danny Briere, what the hell happened? He’s pulled a Jonathan Cheechoo
Bragging rights: Which team is Jagr traded to at the deadline?
Ryane Clowe – How much did he sign for? For ONE point?
Will Steve Bernier ever recover from costing the Devils the Stanley Cup?
How the hell has Matt Martin played 7 games with no penalty minutes?
The Anti-Jarome Iginla: Last season Patrick Marleau scored 9 goals in his first 5 games but only scored 12 more the rest of the season. He has 6 in his first 7 games this season.
The Blues lead the league in penalty minutes so far.
The Lightning have FOUR players with 4 goals or more… already!
The two top scorers on the Jets don’t have a goal between them (before tonights game)
From the Mayor: Alex Roach has been demoted to Ontario.
5 Games For Lapierre who told the Sharks players during the game he would “get them” gets 5 games. And you wonder why players keep doing this shit?
