Is it Time (Again) To Trade Dustin Brown?
Bruce McNall was brilliant when he traded Bernie Nicholls the year after scoring 70 goals. He got two phenomenal assets in return in the form of Tomas Sandstrom and Tony Granato who helped the Kings to the Stanley Cup finals.
Nicholls never did reagin his scoring touch as his best season was just 25 goals for the Rangers.
Dustin Brown is in the same boat.
Dustin was rumored to be on the block two seasons ago. He picked up his game and was instrumental in leading the Kings to the Stanley Cup.
But this season, he has been about as inconsistent as Amanda Bynes mental state.
With a salary cap hit of 5.875 starting next season until 2022 (when he is 37) and a salary on 7 million next season, it just might be time for Lombardi to pull a Bernie Nicholls.
It’s been mentioned the Kings should deal him for Matt Moulson, Steve Ott and either Drew Stafford or Cody Hodgson (with a draft pick going back in case the Kings resign Moulson/Ott) it would be a gamble for both clubs. If Moulson and Ott walk via free agency, its Dustin Brown for Drew Stafford and nobody in their right mind would make THAT deal. (Unless of course, your name is Garth Snow)
Dustin goes home, Buffalo builds around a tough as nails Captain who will certainly regain his scoring touch playing on his natural side and with a system more wide open than Sutter’s. He’ll never get close to winning a Stanley Cup again with Buffalo, but he would instantly be their franchise player.
The Kings would get a left winger who will actually SCORE playing with Anze Kopitar, and a severe upgrade to the 4th line (Ott with Nolan and Clifford makes me want to go to the closed and pull out the blow up doll). Stafford ain’t to shabby either and he’ll be perfectly worthless playing with Jarret Stoll.
Dustin to the Islanders for Kyle Okposo and UFA to be Andrew MacDonald?
Dustin to Calgary for Mark Giordano and Curis Glenncross?
What do YOU think is a fair trade for El Capitano?
Manchester went 2-0-1 over the weekend and even Colin Fraser had 2 goals.
Jones is obviously on his way to L.A. because the Monarchs had some guy named Zach Guercia as backup to Mathias Neiderburger (or is it Need-a-Burger?)
The Finns beat the US because they played a better game, they knew each other and had chemistry. There doesn’t seem to be much chemistry in the Kings locker room these days, especially following Dan Carcillo’s trade (just look up the Rangers record since he was acquired)
Lombardi is once again skating on thin ice heard and if the Kings MISS the playoffs, there’s no way season ticket holders are going to let him stay.
Should the US Olympic players be “booed” when they return?
I contacted the people that were selling the Kopitar Slovenia Jersey’s – They’ll ship them to the US for 19.99 euro. Just ask me for the address and I’ll send it in a PM or DM or whatever the fuck you call it.
My surprise players to be traded:
Kyle Okposo – Imagine what the Islanders could get for THIS guy? They could gang rape the Red Wings for every prospect they have now that Zetterberg is out of the season. Let’s not forget, this is Garth Snow so what I’m writing really isn’t so off the wall.
Mark Andre Fleury – Do you REALLY believe the Penguins are going to go into these playoffs with Mr. Inconsistent in net? Could be a SHOCKER of a deal! Maybe to Anaheim for one of their goaltenders plus a pick.
Scott Hartnell has a no-movement clause but the Flyers could use several assets down the stretch and rid themselves of a very long contract in the process.
Dan Boyle – The Sharks need several upgrades and dealing HIS salary makes sense.
Ed Jovanovski – I would lay 3-1 odds he gets moved (but I don’t gamble anymore so I’ll just wager a few prison cigarettes)
Mike Fisher – he’d look really nice in Toronto, right? But he has a NMC and no way he waives it… unless he’s sick of banging his old lady.
Jason Garrison – what was that old Men at Work song? “It’s a Mistake” – Garth Snow definitely bites on this bust.
Devin Setoguci – He’s a UFA and when the Jets finally fold like origami, he’s moved faster than a mob witness.
