This is an unusual amount of activity for Dean Lombardi
First he deals an unhappy and unproductive Loktionov to New Jersey for a 5th
Then he trades a 5th to Florida for, what’s turning out to be, a very quality defenseman
Today, not only did he trade a player who has been a healthy scratch for the past 4 games, he fees up 3.5 million bucks in cap space in order to boost his roster for the home stretch.
Not bad.
I have a feeling he isn’t done.
It wouldn’t be surprising to see Willie Mitchell placed in the LTIL. I mean, the guy WAS cleared by doctors over TWO WEEKS ago, yet you hear nothing about it? Could Willie be pouting? He’s got his cup and now he’s turned into one of those assholes who just wants to collect a paycheck? Or is something REALLY wrong with him and he’s telling the Kings doctors to “fuck off?”
Drew Doughty still doesn’t have a goal through 17 games. Still think he’s worth 7 million a year? As good as he is? I mean, come on, Thomas Hickey has more game winning goals.
How about the defense, which lost Greene and Mitchell and has been pieced together with Drewiske and Muzzin. Can you say “proper development by Lombardi and company?” – The kid from Florida has been pretty decent but I can’t help but think, one more injury to the D and the Kings could be in trouble.
How come no talk of extending Scuderi?
Always love it when the Ducks get spanked in our crib. Now 8-1-2 over the last 11 games. How delicious!
These 150 games in 151 nights coming up scares the shit out of me.
Sorry for the delay in the blogs. Been working on 2 films in 3 cities. Brutal
What happened to those badass New Orleans blogs? Those were hilarious. Did it not go over so well at HB? According to Capgeek Richardson, Clifford, Lewis, Nolan, Voynov, Martinez, Ellerby, Drewiske, Muzzin and Bernier are all in their final year of their contract. Maybe Dean is freeing up space to resign all these guys, a few might be in line for a raise. Or, maybe he’s freeing up space to deal Bernier and is going to bring in a larger contract. I know the Kings don’t have anyone ready to step up and be Quick’s backup but I don’t think you can let a guy in such high demand walk.
Yeah, Gagne looks extremely timid and reluctant after his bouts with injuries. I was kinda excited when the Kings got Gagne, but now that he’s gone I realize that it never really made much sense in the 1st place…
Hey Mathew, this has been bugging me for a couple weeks and I can’t so anything about it, maybe you can since your a blogger on Hockeybuzz. The blogger for the Chicago Blackhawks has been talking about how “awful” the ice at home. Complaining about having to share a stadium with the bulls an how if the ice was “better” they would be that much better. If you could, please remind him that the LA Kings share staples center with not ONE but TWO basketball teams AND we also live in Southern California where it never snows not does the temp. Get below freezing. I personally would love to call the guy out on being a moron, except I have no access….thanks in advance
There has been talk about extending Scuderi. lombardi confirmed it.

Never thought Gagne made any kind of a difference while here. They let him play just so he could qualify for a name in graving on the cup. Seriously, did the guy do anything big for the Kings? I always thought it was strange that he was the 3rd player handed the cup during the celebration. It was like, what a gift! Shouldn’t you be lifting the cup after say…. Westgarth?! Loktionov did more for the Kings. But he’s gone now too and can become the next Moulson. I bet Gagne retires after this season.
