Now That The Dust Has Settled…
You ever meet a hot girl and you take her to a really nice expensive restaurant ‘cause you want to impress her and she winds up ordering lobster and filet mignon and taking just a few bites of each, and washes it down with a bottle of Opus One, because she thinks its cool to drink Opus when she’s just shown you she doesn’t know any better. Then she doesn’t shut up the entire night and the thought of fucking her just makes you sick.
That’s how I feel about the hype to every single one of these days. Draft day and Free Agent day and Trade Deadline Day. All hype and just a big waste of time.
I didn’t stay home this time. I did go to the beach and peed in the ocean.
It was 107 degrees where I live and I went to the sand and had a great time. I got all my info from Twitter and didn’t have to sit inside all day listening to Dreger and LeBrun and that annoying egotistical talking head Duthie talk about kids who think the Beatles are something you spray with Raid.
I DVR’d the entire thing and watched it in about an hour and a half after everyone had passed out from too much sun.
I was happy the Kings got a great 1st pick, but I was also happy when we drafted Jens Karlsson and Jeff Tambellini and Brian Boyle. I wasn’t fat or old then either.
Did I know who Wayne Simmonds was? No, and neither did you. None of us even knew he was black! (sorry, African American!)
I care that Scuderi hasn’t been signed yet and that Lombardi has replaced him with Robyn Regehr. So far. I’m hoping Lombardi doesn’t come out and say (like he always says), “these guys need to step up and be better!.”
I don’t understand how Alec Martinez is still a King, where he fits next year and how he couldn’t have fetched at least a 3rd round pick Lombardi lost in the ZYXVK deal. I guess my 100% prediction of him being dealt we’re 100% wrong… as usual.
Bring on the qualifying offers!!!
Oh, shit! RUMORS!
(I was waiting for my buddy who was on the draft floor to email me last night but I guess bar+beer=no email, so I’ll update this when he does)
San Jose added that pesky little asshole Kennedy to go with an even bigger asshole in Torres.
Dallas had a good draft. So did Phoenix. Vancouver is an absolute disaster and I can’t wait for the fallout. I hope Luongo shocks everyone and pulls a Tim Thomas and retires.
I like that a prima donna like Nino Neidermeyer (an “Animal House” reference) will be in a locker room with really rich prima donnas and the Wild won’t be any better next year than they were this year.
Did Buffalo have a great draft, or what?
So let me get this straight, MacT offered Vancouver their 1st, a 2nd and a prospect for Schneider, but Gillis didn’t want to trade in the division/conference. I wonder what MacT offered Lombardi for Bernier.
Hell, I wonder if Uncle Lou didn’t offer the Kings the #9 pick for Bernier. Would Lombardi have taken it? I still hope Elias and Clarkson leave. I absolutely despise VanDerBeek.
Do you think Tim Lie-weekly saw Bolland score the Stanley Cup winner and insisted the Maple Leafs acquire him just because he scored a Stanley Cup winning goal?
Montreal still won’t win the Stanley Cup next year.
So let me get this straight part deux: Tampa can’t pawn off Lecavalier, they pay him 34 million to go away and now Vinny is gonna be collecting another 25 million for the next 5 years? Can someone please tell me how I can fail this good?
The next time I see Dave Poile, I’m going to rub my body all over him. That guy is the luckiest son of a bitch I have ever seen.
It was nice that Dean Lombardi gave the Devils his 7th round pick so that Brodeur could pick his untalented son. I gave my friend a Sprite so my son could be on my team when we were playing Monopoly against the in-laws.
Why do I get the feeling that half the GM’s in the league are all snickering behind Jay Feaster’s back?
I heart Mike Futa and whatever his first name is Yanetti. Hmmm, there hasn’t been a “Starsky and Hutch” in a long time. “Yuta and Fanetti” I’m a genius!
Remember when they were saying such great things about how great Colten Teubert was gonna be?
Remember when Aki Berg was selected #3? Not quite Jonathan Drouin is it?
I’m still in shock Al Murray has a job.
