Red Wings Loss Cost AEG Up To 8 Million Bucks
Unless the Blues choke like a hooker at a Vegas Rapper convention, the Kings will not wind up with home ice advantage.
Instead of wrapping that up in a Christmas like package for the very patient AEG executives, the Kings will now have to win their last home game and pray that Chicago doesn’t go through the motions during their finale vs the Blues.
Each extra home playoff game generates between 1 million and 4 million dollars in gate receipts.
The Kings had a phenomenal run going 16-4. While nice for you and I and Los Angeles, there were 8 MORE games that could have been played which would have generated even MORE revenue. The cost of being a powerhouse in the playoffs.
Last season the Kings played only 9 home games generating an estimated 24 million dollars. Had it been reversed, the Kings would have played 11 home games worth an additional 8 million dollars.
Had the Kings wrapped up home ice last night, AEG was looking at (if the Kings weren’t swept) the likelihood of 3 home games at Staples for the first round. That’s an extra million dollars. Double it for each additional round and you can see what one loss did.
So lets pray the Blackhawks win their game vs the Blues and lets kick the shit out of the Sharks. Please. There’s nothing worse than going into the playoffs on a 3 game losing streak… and 6 game road losing streak. I mean, the OILERS had more road wins this season than the Kings!!!
Okay, so how many of you are PRAYING that the Oilers win just ONCE before the season is over. Preferably tomorrow night against the Wild? Of course Colorado will have to show their fans in their finale just how much they would live to stick their 190 million dollar players on a plane back to Minneapolis/St Paul. Of course, Columbus still has to beat Nashville.
I wonder if players think about the one game that they let get away in the last 2 minutes of the game. The one game that would have given them an extra point or two that would have been the difference of them being in the post season or golfing.
ESPNZone around 4:00 to catch ALL of the games Saturday? Who’s with me?
