San Jose here / Colorado below
So I had my office party last night and I didn’t get home until 3am… yes, it was a rough day and I didn’t get to watch (thus comment) on the game until this evening, although I did listen to the various XM debates on whether “the dirty” Dustin Brown deserved to be suspended or not for his hit on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Hertl (who is going to be out 4-6 weeks) –
Onto the game!
Wayne Thomas & Bob Froese, you have company.
Martin Jones is only the 3rd goalie in NHL history to start his career 7 -0.
8-0-1 in the last 9 at home vs San Jose.
Maybe they’re NOT that good. At least that piece of shit Raffi Torres is still sidelined with a bleeding rectum.
The Kings killing off the major to Dustin Brown was the key to the game. Playing with 11 forwards as well gave everyone a little more ice time and it created confusion for the Sharks who couldn’t handle the Kings.
Speaking of King, what deal with the devil did Dwight King make? The guy, who Darryl Sutter called the Kings best left wing which left many of us wondering where we could buy the stuff Darryl was smoking, has been nothing short of outstanding this season and his dish to Carter was epic and unexpected.
Tyler Toffoli. The Kings 1st round draft picks may suck worse than “Anchorman 2″ but the 2nd rounders have just been the toast of the town. There are 16 players chosen ahead of him (including Derek Forbort) who have never set foot on NHL ice.
Here’s a shocker! In 6 of the last 7 games, the Kings have scored 3 goals or more!
Kings have killed off 25 straight shorties at home.
Kings have allowed only 1 first period goal in 21 games
Kings have allowed 2 goals or less on 20 of the last 21 games.
Up next, Colorado.
The Kings have been much better in the 1:00 games lately, but there’s always room for worry.
Colorado – L 1-0 (ot)
Chicago – L 5-2
Colorado – W 4-1
Vancouver – L 1-0
Edmonton – W 4-1
Detroit – L 4-1
Montreal – L 2-1
Columbus – L 1-0
It’s so nice to have Jeff Carter back. He scored, the Av’s didn’t and the Kings had another 1st period without allowing a goal.
Justin Williams then did his best Yasiel Puig imitation and a base hit up the middle was just what the doctor ordered.
The Kings had ample opportunity to put the game out of reach. They hit the post on a power play but the biggest joke was Colin Fraser having a wide open net and shooting the puck into Varlamov’s glove. I’m going to go out on a limb and say Linden Vey would have gone Jeffrey Dahmer and buried that.
The Kings wonderful penalty kill was about as wonderful as the migraine I had all morning and you figured after they allowed ONE goal on the PP, they wouldn’t allow TWO. But they did, and Kings fans were smacking their dogs in the nose with the newspaper (’cause that’s just what Kings fans do.)
Jones was solid again and was looking to tie an NHL record with his 8th straight win but would have to deal with snipers Duchene (who is looking like one of the best players in the league right now), PA Parenteau (who surpringly didn’t go backhand) and O’Reilly (who beat the Kings last time at Staples).
He didn’t allow shit and is now 6 for 6.
Anze Kopitar found the back of the net and the Kings grab a much needed extra point and I can go take a nap before another party tonight (I’m too old to party… it takes me 2 days to recover now! Oh, how I miss being 18… just the girls alone!)
Colin Fraser activated and Linden Vey sent to Manchester, which begs the question… why?
Colorado has a fast team yet Matt Frattin was a healthy scratch once again.
Kings had 38 hits and were a healthy 39 of 64 in the dots (former Kings Mark Andre Cliche won only one of six draws)
After averaging nearly 12 minutes of ice time in his last 5 games, Kyle Clifford saw just under 8 today. Is it me or is he just not the same anymore?
Bruce Garrioch (who is ALWAYS right) says “Lombardi has has forward depth he’d like to deal. The club does have UFA centres Trevor Lewis and Colin Fraser and winger Daniel Carcillo …”
Do me a favor por favore.

PuckDaddy posted this but just in case you missed it, this is fricken GREAT!
