Thoughts on This Possible Buffalo Deal
I love when the internet is abuzz with trade rumors!
Sure, it makes sense that Darryl Sutter would want to reunite himself with Robyn Regehr. He’s a big bodied defenseman who once hit Justin Williams so hard, he separated his shoulder. He’s a left handed shot and has actually scored 15 goals a season. Hell, if he scores ONE for the Kings, that would be 100% more than Drew Doughty. He would be, as Lombardi call it, a “right fit”.
He’s also got a NMC and the last time that happened, Ray Whitney wanted a 2 year extension from the Kings to waive that clause. Lombardi was unwilling to give that 2 years so the deal fell through. Whitney eventually signed a 2 year deal in Phoenix and promptly became their best player.
Buffalo may not want Drewiske and Martinez is a bit high of an asking price for a rental. The Kings have been grooming Campbell for a while so I dought they part with him. Bodnarchuk seems like the likely expendable candidate.
Theres also been talk Jordan Leopold would be the D-man coming over. My thought? Not a fucking chance.
My buddy mentioned Sekera and that would make sense too but why would Buffalo part with a young, inexpensive D-man?
There’s also ben talk of taking Drew Staffors and his whopping 2 goals and 4 million dollar contract off of Buffalo’s hands, but there’s a REASON he’s miserable in Buffalo. Maybe he just plain SUCKS and playing for the Kings and especially Darryl Sutter might not be the change of scenery he’s looking for.

why the hell would we want the most over-rated, over-paid goalie in the NHL besides Luongo? So we could have a $6.25 mill back-up to Quick?
I can see the Kings giving up Martinez for Regehr and a pick. No way in hell Bodnarchuck lands Regehr. We don’t need Martinez anyways, now that Muzzin and Ellerby are here, and especially if one of Greene and Mitchell come back.

One and a half period and Quick has givin up 3 goals. No way the kings are trading Bernier. I have a feeling the goalie being traded will be Quick after the season is over. DL can get just about anyone with by trading him.

I agree, Quick will fetch more in a trade and Lombardi was a moron and gave him a 10 year contract. I’m sorry but no goalie is worth a ten year contract, did he not learn his lesson from Vancouver and the Islanders?
As for the short term, give Bernier the majority of the starts, Quick sucks right now and Iwe can’t afford to wait another 10+ games for him to decide to show up or we will miss the playoffs. Wake up Sutter and Play the better goalie.

A whole lot of short memories. Quick played poorly in the playoffs the year before he carried the team on his back last year. Without him there would be no banner. He will get it together and regain a little confidence, but has to play through it. Bernier is showing to be a very good goaltender, but I would pick Quick to carry me through the playoffs. There’s a guy named Brodeur has had a few runs of slumps as well.
