To Trade Dustin Brown or Not to Trade Dustin Brown
The Kings have failed the litmus test.
Anaheim beat them twice, Pittsburgh outplayed, outmuscled and beat them like a welfare orphan.
These Stanley Cup winning Kings are nowhere near playoff ready. They’re not even Saturday ready.
Is their Captain to blame?
There’s been endless discussion on these boards about El Captaino. I said YEARS ago when the Kings named Mattias Norstrom Captain that the Kings would never win a Stanley Cup with him as the Captain for as good as Norstrom was, he didn’t have any balls.
Dustin won a cup and nobody can ever take that engraving away (unless the Sedin’s win the cup and take a sander to it when it’s their day with the cup)
Dustin’s been dumped to the 3rd line, he’s having an awful season, and the Kings are one Minnesota win away from being outside of the playoff picture. Thank the good lord Vancouver is in the middle of a tank job as well.
But do you dump Brown?
Imagine if the Ducks had dumped Ryan Getzlaf 2 seasons ago when he scored just 11 goals?
If you’re going to dump someone, dump Lombardi.
Think about it.
He held on to Terry Murray way too long and if Sutter doesn’t bail him out, Lombardi is out of a job! Terry Murray was fired on December 11th, 2011. The Kings were 13-12-4 and had fallen to 8th place.
Darryl Sutter injects some life into the Kings (after John Stevens went 2-2, including an 8-2 drubbing by the Red Wings) and Lombardi KEEPS his job.
What has Lombardi actually DONE?
Drafted and developed a top 6 forward in his 7 years? Simmons is the only player that comes to mind. ONE FUCKING PLAYER?
His trades have certainly paid off. Can you say Patrick O’Sullivan?
My reader “Scooty” gave me shit just 2 weeks ago for calling Sutter a .500 coach. Can anyone tell me what the Kings record is this season? 30 wins 26 losses. That’s about .500
Bottom line, you do NOT trade Dustin Brown. The dude has FOUR children. What are YOU like with 4 kids? You know what a mom is like after dealing with 4 brats all day, and Dustin comes home after having his head rammed by the likes of idiots like Tom Sestito and Zach Kassian?
I’m giving Dustin a break.
The Kings need an injection of life. Someone that Richards can pass the puck to who can actually BURY it. Once that happens, the Kings will be just fine, they’ll finish 8th again, and while Chicago is rolling over Minnesota and Colorado on their way to the conference finals, the Kings will have to contend with the Ducks and St Louis (again).
So enjoy the loss tomorrow… and Monday… and hope the Kings can exact revenge on Columbus before the much needed Olympic break.
Dustin Brown was NOT named Captain of the Olympic Team. Could it be because his 2014 has sucked donkey balls. He does, however, get the “A”. Parise named “C”
There goes Matt Moulson – Out until after the Olympic break – so basically, teams will have about a week to decide if they want an injured player or not. Because that always works – just ask the Kings and Anson Carter and Brent Sopel
On June 20th, 1998 Calgary Flames GM Darryl Sutter acquires Mike Cammalleri from the Los Angeles Kings for the #17 pick in the draft and the #51 pick in the draft – that leads me to believe Darryl maybe likes his scoring ability. Maybe he’ll like it again.
