Trade Rumors – The December Edition
Isn’t it weird not to HAVE any?
Besides, whoa are you gonna deal? Jarret Stoll? The guy is money in the circle and is playoff proven. Clifford? Still need some LW grit and he’s only making a mil. Dwight King looks like he’s stepped up his game and proving to be a much better asset than Dustin “Once a Duck” Penner.
The ONLY Kings player actually mentioned in rumors anywhere is Alec Martinez and as one report showed today, teams aren’t going with big bruising defensemen anymore (read: Douglas Murray) they’re going with puck moving defensemen (read: Alec Martinez), even though AM sucked worse than a gas syphoning redneck vs the Ducks and was benched for most of the period even when Robyn Regehr went down with an injury (6 shifts the entire 3rd period).
With Matt (suddenly Mr. Glass) Greene making 3 mil and a UFA its likely he won’t be retained. Willie Mitchell is also a UFA leaving only Robyn Regehr as the only veteran D-man. Will the Kings go out and find another Robyn Regehr? A veteran D-man with a year or two left on his contract? Okay… whom? And WHAT are you gonna deal? Nobody wanted Thomas Hickey, so its highly likely nobody is gonna want Brandon Kozun. You’re not gonna deal Vey or Toffoli, right?
Maybe the Kings can finally rid themselves of the useless Trevor Lewis, he of the ZERO goals and ZERO assists and -4. Linden Vey has been here 12 games and has 5 assists AND plays on the power play. The last time Lewis saw time on the PP, one of my readers was really drunk and stuck him out there for a laugh on NHL 13. As I will show you below, the Kings PK is actually (believe it or not) BETTER this season… and it ain’t because of Trevor Lewis. Of course, he’ll be traded and become the 2nd coming of Brad Richardson, who has the same amount of goals in 30 games THIS season than he did in TWO YEARS with the Kings.
Speaking of D-men, the Kings don’t seem to be missing Rob Scuderi much at all.
Through 29 games last season, the Kings were 17-10-2, they had allowed 73 goals and had given up 4 or more goals 6 times and killed 89 of 110 penalties.
Through 29 games THIS season, the Kings are 18-7-4 (better) have allowed 62 goals (11 less) have given up 4 or more goals 3 times and killed 99 of 116 penalties
It will be interesting to see if Jeff Schultz can retain his old form that once saw him at a +50. Now, I know some of you say that +/- doesn’t mean shit, but when you look at Jack Johnson and HIS +/-, something can be said for being on the ice when goals are scored WITH you rather than when goals are being scored ON you.
Kings back-up goaltenders are 7-1-3 since Quick got his boo-boo (the only “loss” vs Calgary with 23 seconds left! ARGH!!!)
During that span the Kings…
Have LOST 3 points in the standings to San Jose
Have not given up more than 2 goals a game
Have only won twice at home
Gained 5 points on the Ducks
Dodger Stadium sold out? Bullshit. The NHL will buy the thousands upon thousands of tickets remaining and distribute them. Pure and simple. I have dead center ice tickets above the glass and haven’t even been offered face value for them (I won’t SELL them for face value mind you, but nobody on eBay has even ASKED!)
