It’s not that he was bad last night, but he hasn’t been that good.
A guy who used to stop pucks blindfolded is back to letting in a “softee” a game.
St Louis’ first goal (a game which he did win) was horrible, then he settled down and the Kings came back to win.
Last night, Dallas wanted it more. No doubt, and there was nothing he could do about 2 of the 4 goals he let in.
Is Bernier just that much better?
Quick is 7-7-2 with a 2.59 gaa (23rd in the league) – that’s not very good for a guy that just signed a 10 year contract. .
895 save percentage? That’s worse than Joey McDonald. That’s worse than Steve Mason.
Bernier is 5-1 with a 1.92 gaa (4th in the league) and a .916 save percentage
Its time Quick got his head out of his ass and started playing to what he’s making.
And it wouldn’t surprise me at all if Quick were the one traded and not Bernier. Lets not forget, this is the same Dean Lombardi who signed Lubo to a 7 year deal and traded him and then Jack Johnson whom he promptly traded. Why do you think Bernier started back-to-back games? To see if he COULD. He wasn’t ready, obviously, but to me, that was a Lombardi test.

Speaking of goaltenders…
Remember Danny Taylor, who played ONE game for the Kings back in 2007-08? He actually got a chance to start 2 games for Calgary… 5 years after making his debut. He went 1-1 before being sent back.
Jeff Zatkoff, who was so great for Manchester is now in the Pittsburgh organ-eye-zation and is doing okay with a 18-16 record and a 1.90gaa
———————————–
Jeff Carter has 15 goals and 2 assists.
Dustin Penner just set a career high with assists in 4 straight games.
Even Mike Richards is starting to get in on the fun with 10 points in the last 10 games

I wonder if anyone will take Brad Richardson and his 1.175 million dollar bench warming salary off the Kings hands. There are cheaper better players in Manchester who deserve a shot.
So Lombardi is now making the decisons on who starts in goal?
It’s not that hard for a G.M to have a talk with the coach and ask him to start the backup to see what he has.
“I wonder if anyone will take Brad Richardson and his 1.175 million dollar bench warming salary off the Kings hands. There are cheaper better players in Manchester who deserve a shot.”
Deserve a shot at sitting in the press box in LA or actually getting some playing time in Manchester? Maybe Toffoli replaces King for a game or two every so often, but unlikely Fraser, Nolan or Lewis get benched because they are Sutter’s favorites.
Someone needs to get traded or injured for anyone to get called up from Manchester.
Quicks game is all about being limber and quick. Any kind of injury and he will be off his game. Long term it really should be JB. But fans will be upset since JQ played such a big role in bringing us the cup.
Quick had off season back surgery. While Bernier went overseas to play. Bernier is in game shape and Quick is still recovering from surgery. Quick will get back to where he once was but it will take some time, probably next year. Bernier should get the bulk of playing time and Quick should just rehab and get into shape.

Quick doesn’t seem to be as focused this year. For example, watch the way he tries to get back into position after making a stop. Last year, he would zip right back into position all in one motion, completely focused. This year, he makes the initial stop then jumps around and spins around like a ballerina and almost never gets back into position. Something happened to him, maybe all the attention he garnered last season got him off his game mentally?
