Who Gets Dumped?
With Matt Greene (3 million cap hit) and Trevor Lewis (1.325 million cap hit) traveling with the team to Canada, its just a matter of time before Lombardi has to make roster moves.
They started today by sending Jeff Schultz back to Manchester (poor guy)
Greene’s injury allowed the Kings to have the luxury of bringing up Tyler Toffoli, Linden Vey and Tanner Pearson who COMBINED, didn’t make what Greene was making.
All that’s about to change.
Tyler Toffoli has certainly earned a spot on the roster, which makes someone else expendable.
Currently, the Kings have 1.7 million in space available according to www.capgeek.com
When Greene comes off LTIR, the Kings would be OVER by 1.2 million and when Lewis returns, the Kings are over by 2.5 mil.
1) Safe to say Linden Vey and his 800K cap hit got his “taste” and will be heading back to Manchester.
1.7 left to go.
2) Dan Carcillo or Colin Fraser will be waived as both make 825,000
3) Alec Martinez is finally dealt for picks and/or a prospect
4) They leave Trevor Lewis in Toronto as the Leafs are desperate for Center help.
Go ahead and play GM, what are YOU going to do???
The Kings have been shorthanded 120 times this season (4th worst) and allowed 17 goals against (surprisingly 12th best). HOWEVER, with Matt Green in the lineup, the Kings have ALLOWED 13 goals on 62 times shorthanded. WITHOUT Green, the Kings have allowed only FOUR goals in 58 tries!!!!
San Jose has lost 3 games in a row and the Kings are STILL a point behind them.
How does Jack Capuano still have a job? After Anaheim and San Jose Monday/Tuesday, he might not.
Jack Johnson is -13. That’s 762nd worst out of 767 in the NHL – Dustin Penner is +18
Anaheim and San Jose are 20-1-4 combined at home this season.
