Who is the 57th Best Player in the Draft? Who Cares!
The Kings have the 57th pick in the draft this Sunday
I went back to 2009 to see if anyone jumped out. Tommy Tatar (whom the Kings interviewed and didn’t select) is the only player who has played a few games. He was drafted 3 years ago. He was also voted the MVP in this years’ Calder Cup.
What about 2008? Anyone stand out? Nope. Just Jimmy Hayes and his whopping 41 games from Toronto
2007? WAYNE SIMMONDS with the 61st pick! Brilliant!
2006 was stellar, wasn’t it? Mike Weber in Buffalo and Jamie McBain! Oh my! 4th liners! Ugh
2005 there had to be SOMEBODY, right? That’s 7 seasons ago! Kris Letang at number 62. The Kings drafted T.J. fast at #60
2004 was Dubinsky, Gologoski and Krejci who took 3 years, 4 years and 3 years to become starters in the NHL.
So basically, whomever this 2nd round pick turns out to be it’s 7-1 odds he won’t be in the Kings lineup anytime soon. 2016 my kid’ll be in high school and I’ll just be an even older fuck.
TSN just came out with their rankings
According to them, I guess the Kings will be drafting Connor Hurley from Edina High School who plays Center? GREAT! ‘Cause the last time the Kings drafted a high school player, he took YEARS to develop in college, then didn’t do much with the Kings, and everyone told me to eat a bag of dicks when he scored a few goals and them didn’t do anything else, and then he was shipped to the Rangers for a 4th round pick.
So why should ANY of us give a shit who the Kings pick at #57? We’ve never seen any of them actually PLAY have we?
