The Kings have dropped 3 straight after winning 8 straight and tonight they face yet another desperate team.
It’s obvious this team doesn’t quite have the same “moxy” it did during their Stanley Cup run, or even last season.
Is it ALL Dustin Brown’s fault, who basically hasn’t played up to expectations since an early season knee injury that nobody talks about.
12 goals and 10 assists in 66 games is by far the worst statistics of ANY Captain in the NHL. Yesterday, he skates on the 4th line in practice. Who has 22 points? Matt Nieto and Boone Jenner.
Mike Richards has gone from 18 goals during the cup run to just 9 this season. Those aren’t Mike Richards numbers. NINE? Do you know who has 9 goals? Paul Gaustead. Daniel Paille. Jimmy Hayes.
Kyle Clifford has 6 points. SIX. Keaton Ellerby has 6 points. Hell, Linden Vey has 5 points and he’s played in 40 less games.
Unless the Kings get their collective heads out of their collective asses, they’re looking at a first round exit. As a matter of fact, pessimistic me is already booking gigs for May in anticipation of a 1st round parting. Then again, I once asked the Canucks to “make it painless” in the 1st round. There’s one thing to be an 8th place team with no expectations, but when you have HIGH expectations, teams come at you.
The Kings don’t have that extra umph (and its not Colin Fraser either). Once Trevor Lewis departs as a free agent and Linden Vey skates a regular shift in his place, the Kings will score a few more goals. Brayden McNabb will replace Matt Greene and add some new hungry nastiness instead of the F150 that Greene has been.
Thanks for the offers, I’m going tonight with a friend and I’ll be wearing my Slovenian Kopitar jersey, so come say “hi”
